Let’s all choose a picture book that we want to encourage our children to enjoy! “Everyone’s Reading Picture Book Award” held for the first time

Consumers’ Co-op Sapporo (hereinafter referred to as “Co-op Sapporo”), Japan Consumers’ Co-operative Federation (hereinafter referred to as “Japan Consumers’ Co-operative Union”), Nippon Co-op Mutual Aid Consumers’ Co-operative Union (hereinafter referred to as “Co-op Kyosairen”), Nippon Publishing Sales Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Nippan”), Ehon Navi Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Ehon Navi) will jointly hold the “Everyone’s Reading Picture Book Award”. Also, starting today, September 5th (Thursday), we will begin recruiting childcare facilities to participate in this grand prize. The Grand Prize is based on the concept of “people who love reading picture books choose the picture book they most want to read right now” and selects and awards picture books for the children who will be responsible for the future. By choosing the best picture book to read together, we hope to use this as an opportunity to convey the wonders of “reading picture books.” One grand prize winner will be selected in each of the two categories: “Children and teachers choose! Reading picture book category” and “Picture book lovers choose! Reading picture book category.” The most distinctive feature of this award is the “Picture book category chosen by children and teachers!”. We will send 20 picture books to nursery schools, kindergartens, children’s centers, and other child care facilities across the country that have applied, have them read them, and then vote for one of them. The picture book with the most votes will be awarded the grand prize. We are planning to hold an award ceremony next year in October 2025, and a “Reading Event” for the winning picture books from November to December at kindergartens, nursery schools, todock stations, and bookstores across Hokkaido.
Through the “Everyone’s Picture Book Award,” we will convey the wonders of “reading picture books.”
