Demonstration trial begins using renewable diesel, a next-generation biofuel made from waste cooking oil, waste animal fat, etc.
*~Promoting decarbonization in transportation as an alternative fuel to diesel oil~*
Asahi Kasei Homes Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Fumitoshi Kawabata, hereinafter referred to as “Asahi Kasei Homes”) and Senko Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka, President: Sugimoto)
Kenji (hereinafter referred to as “Senko”) is ITOCHU ENEX Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director, President and CEO: Yoshida)
We are pleased to announce that we will begin a demonstration trial in October to use Renewable Diesel (hereinafter referred to as “RD”) supplied by Tomoshi (hereinafter referred to as “Itochu Enex”) in trucks that transport building materials to new construction sites. This is the first (*1) attempt by a domestic house builder to use RD.
*1. Itochu Enex, the only RD distributor in Japan, will provide Asahi Kasei Homes for the first time to domestic house builders.
1. Overview of demonstration trial
*Name of initiative*: Decarbonization of large vehicles by introducing RD * Details of the initiative *: Converting the fuel for transportation trucks to new construction sites from diesel oil to RD
* Initiative start date *: Six months from October 2024 to March 2025 *Estimated fuel usage*: Approximately 2,400L/6 months/unit

Package design for trucks in operation (*Reduced CO2 amount is based on Energy Saving Law and Global Warming Countermeasures Law standards) 2. Background of the initiative
Reducing emissions from transportation is also an extremely important element in decarbonizing the supply chain. Asahi Kasei Homes and Senko have been promoting decarbonization in transportation, including initiatives such as “Decarbonization of long-distance transportation by introducing dolly-type double-coupled trucks” (*2). As a measure to further decarbonize the transportation sector, we are promoting the electrification of vehicles, but the outlook for the electrification of large trucks and other vehicles remains uncertain.
To address these issues, RD can be used as is in existing vehicles and construction machinery as a so-called “drop-in fuel,” and its use has the potential to expand further in the future. Based on the results of this demonstration trial, we will continue to consider wider application. In addition, for operations in Tokyo, we will participate in the “Tokyo Metropolitan Biofuel Utilization Commercialization Promotion Support Project” (*3) adopted by Itochu Enex and others, contributing to decarbonization in Tokyo. Masu.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel and Renewable manufactured by Neste Diesel is manufactured by Neste (Headquarters: Finland), the world’s leading renewable diesel and SAF manufacturer, from renewable raw materials such as waste cooking oil and waste animal fats, which have no food competition, through a hydrorefining process. generation biofuel. GHG (Greenhouse) based on life cycle assessment
Gas (greenhouse gas) emissions are reduced by up to 90% compared to petroleum-based light oil, and it can be used as is in vehicles and heavy machinery that use light oil.
