Started joint demonstration experiment with Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Sewerage to resolve metropolitan government issues
*~Aiming to create a new method for confirming construction progress in environments where it is difficult for people to enter~*
Liberaware Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Representative Director: Hongkyu Min, hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) will participate in the 35th UPGRADE pitch event sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
with
Conducted the first demonstration experiment of “Establishment of a new construction progress confirmation method for sewerage
facilities,” which was adopted by “TOKYO.” We aim to use the 3D data generated using the drone “IBIS2″ developed by our company and mobile LiDAR to confirm the finished product. In the future, we will work to stabilize the quality of 3D data generation and improve the efficiency of the time and labor required to generate 3D data, with a view to commercialization.
* ■Background*

The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Sewerage is carrying out a variety of construction work to renew aging sewage facilities and respond to frequent heavy rains. When sewerage construction is completed, inspection staff check the finished product, such as shape and dimensions, against construction management standards on site, but there are places that are high, narrow, or where harmful gases such as hydrogen sulfide are generated. In particular, safety measures require a lot of effort and time.

Therefore, we have developed a new method for confirming construction work in areas that cannot be easily accessed by humans, using 3D surveying, image recognition AI, etc., to assist humans with confirmation work. times
UPGRADE with TOKYO”, and our solution using IBIS was selected.

* ■About the first demonstration experiment*
1) Purpose and work overview

In aiming to create a new method that can more accurately and efficiently perform construction confirmation work, the purpose of the first demonstration experiment was to identify the scope and issues that can be addressed with current technology.
The implementation outline is as follows.

1. Point cloud generation will be performed using mobile LiDAR in areas where people can pass.
2. For areas that are difficult for people to enter (blind spots due to piping, high places, narrow spaces), images will be taken using the narrow space drone “IBIS2” and point clouds will be generated using image processing (SfM).
3.Merge the point cloud data generated by LiDAR and the point cloud data generated by SfM to complete the point cloud data of the test area.
4. Verify the accuracy of the completed point cloud data and the time required.

2) Results and future prospects

We have confirmed that it is possible to generate point cloud data by using the IBIS2, a drone designed specifically for small spaces, even in areas where it is difficult for people to enter and where even a 3D laser scanner would be a blind spot. Regarding the accuracy, in the first experiment, we recorded that it was at the same level as the current measurement method used to confirm the finished product.

In the future, we will work to shorten drone photography time, improve the efficiency of image processing (SfM) time and manpower, and establish methods to stably generate high-quality point cloud data, and we will work on establishing methods to stably generate
high-quality point cloud data as soon as possible. We aim to have this technology used in the field by many local governments that want to implement it.

* ■Future schedule*
We plan to conduct two more demonstration experiments within this year in order to submit a proposal for the new method in March 2025.

This project is positioned as part of our efforts to strengthen collaboration with local governments in line with our growth strategy, and we will continue to further collaborate with local governments, including Tokyo. Please note that the impact of this matter on our business results will be minor.

▼About UPGRADE with TOKYO
