The “Billboard Classics” performance series, which creates a new musical experience through the fusion of pop and classical orchestras, is in its third year as a project sponsored by the Nagano Art Center. In the same festival format as the year before last, we will be featuring three groups of talented singers who decorate the modern rock and pop scene, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, which has the oldest history in the Japanese orchestra world, and a group born in Shiojiri City and based in Shimosuwa Town. This is a gorgeous performance stage with a tact (conductor) by Toshio Yanagisawa (*1), who is from his hometown. Enjoy famous songs that are loved across genres and eras.

Maki Ohguro

Debuted in 1992. They have released million hits such as “I’m Staring at You,” “Natsu ga Kuru,” and “La La La,” and their first live show in 1997 drew 47,000 people to Ariake.
Although he took a hiatus due to illness treatment in 2010, he resumed his activities as an artist in 2016 at the Rising Sun Rock Festival in his hometown of Hokkaido.
Until May 2018, they will be conducting 85 tours in 47 prefectures nationwide. Since then, they have held tours every year, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut on May 27, 2022, starting a one-year tour of 47 prefectures nationwide from June 1, and opening at Tokyo Garden Theater on May 28, 2023. 5,000 people gathered for the Tour Final. A commemorative album will also be released on December 14, 2022. On April 13, 2024, they held a charity concert for the Noto Peninsula earthquake, and have continued their activities to support
reconstruction efforts since then.
In August, she made her first appearance on a terrestrial TV drama in the TBS drama “Black Pean 2” as a female doctor.

A male duo consisting of Yoshikuni Dochin and Kaname Kawabata. He was selected in the male vocalist audition on the variety show “ASAYAN” and debuted on March 7, 2001 with the single “PIECES OF A DREAM” as part of the vocal duo “CHEMISTRY”. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut in 2021, they will release their best album “The Best & More 2001-2022” in February 2022. They had a successful 20th anniversary year, including holding a 20th anniversary live at Nippon Budokan, and are currently actively working on live shows and releases.
Hitomi Yaida

Common name: Yaiko. Singer-songwriter born and raised in Osaka in 1978. At the age of 19, he discovered the guitar and began writing songs. They made their major debut in July 2000 with their 1st single “B’coz I Love You”. Their 2nd single “My Sweet Darlin’” was a huge hit, and the chorus created a “whirlwind”. Their first album “daiya-monde”, released in October of the same year, debuted at number 1 on the rankings and became a million-seller.
Since then, he has continued to release numerous hit songs, and continues to actively work as an artist, holding national tours and appearing at events.
On October 19, 2023, the theme song “Ainoroi” for the TV Asahi Thursday drama “Yuria Sensei no Akai Ito” will be released. In 2024, as the first anniversary project for the 25th anniversary of his debut, he is holding a nationwide singing and singing tour “Hitomi Yaida Singing and Singing Tour ~GUITAR TO UTA 24-25~” starting in July.
Toshio Yanagisawa (*1)

From 2005 to 2007, he was principal conductor of the Macedonian National Opera House of Yugoslavia.
In 2007, he became Chief Conductor of the Kosovo Philharmonic under the United Nations Interim Administrative Mission in Kosovo. In the same year, he established the Balkan Chamber Orchestra (hereinafter referred to as BCO) in hopes of mutual prosperity for the peoples of the former Yugoslavia. He has held World Peace Concerts at the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations European Headquarters in Geneva, Vienna, New York, Belgrade, Sarajevo, etc., and has collaborated with Pascal Roger, Peter Jablonski, Akiko Suwanai, and others. In October 2022, it will be held at Parco della Musica in Rome, with BCO including members of the Orchestra of the Opera House and others, and Corea Blacher as soloist. He was awarded the Kosovo Presidential Medal (Cultural Achievement Award) for his efforts in the development of Kosovo’s arts and culture and regional peace through the orchestra. He has also guest-performed with many orchestras in Japan and abroad, including the Belgrade State Opera “La Bohème”, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Currently, he is music director of BCO, chief conductor of the Kosovo Philharmonic, honorary chief conductor of the Belgrade Sinfonietta, conductor of the Tohoku Youth Orchestra, an orchestra for earthquake disaster recovery under the music director of Ryuichi Sakamoto, and music partner of the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble. His books include “Sound from the Balkans! Ode to Joy (Shinyusha).”

Founded in 1911. It has the oldest history as an orchestra in Japan, and has approximately 160 members and functions as both a symphony orchestra and a theater orchestra. Honorary Music Director Myung-Whun Chung, Chief Conductor Andrea Battistoni, and Special Guest Conductor Mikhail Pletnev. In addition to independent performances, he has developed a high level of performance through opera and ballet performances at the New National Theater and other venues, and broadcast performances on NHK and other channels. They also actively perform overseas, attracting a lot of attention both domestically and internationally.
Since 1989, we have had a franchise agreement with Bunkamura Orchard Hall. We have business alliances with Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Karuizawa Town, Nagano Prefecture, and Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, and are conducting educational and creative cultural exchanges with each region.
