◆Overview
National University Corporation Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Yasutomo Nasu) AI/Mathematical Data Science Center Cyber-Physical Information Applied Research Promotion Division (Cypher) and Okayama Digital Innovation Creation Platform (OI-Start) will be established in 2024. On August 27th, we held the “Open Innovation MATCH UP – Needs Reverse Pitch from Companies to Universities” at the 50th Anniversary Hall on the Tsushima Campus of our university, where companies presented their needs to the university. This event was held both at the venue and online, and approximately 50 people, including local companies, teachers, and students, participated.
In order to promote industry-academia collaboration, this event is the opposite of a general pitch, in which OI-Start member companies present their company’s vision and the challenges to realizing it to researchers, students, and participants from other companies. It is characterized by the presentation of ideas. At the opening of the meeting, Director Masanobu Abe (in charge of digital transformation and green transformation) and senior vice president gave a greeting, saying, “It’s good to gain knowledge outside of your field of expertise, and I want this meeting to be a place for a frank exchange of opinions.” I did.
This was followed by presentations by OI-Start members, chaired by Cypher’s Professor Takao Shimayoshi. “Challenge together, create together.” Bizen Media Net Co., Ltd. has the theme “AI analysis and real space reproduction using Physical Line Sports System (PLSS).” Representatives from each company will provide an overview of their company, their vision, challenges, and We presented our ideas. At the conclusion of the meeting, OI-Start Chairman Yasuyuki Nogami, Professor, Faculty of Environmental, Life and Natural Sciences (Engineering), said, “It is important to accumulate new ideas in order to start new businesses, and we will continue to do so in the future.” I want to create more opportunities.” After the meeting, an information exchange meeting will be held at the same venue. The participating companies, teachers, and students enthusiastically exchanged opinions and deepened their relationships.
