*The guest is “Oshidori” who advanced to the M-1 Grand Prix semi-finals in 2003* Main image of the 42nd “Shinsuke and Friends”
Starting in April 2021, Mainichi Shimbun has been holding a rakugo performance, “Shinsuke and Friends,” which will be streamed live online from the home practice studio of master rakugo performer Shinsuke Kokontei once a month.
This is an online rakugo show where you can enjoy the rakugo performed by a veteran storyteller with 50 years of experience in the comfort of your own home, either in real time or as a missed broadcast.
* This time’s Rakugo will have 2 seats, including “Toya”. * “Toya” is a love story about a young man who works at a shop. (The young man) had been on a relationship with the shopkeeper’s young lady, promising them a future, but when he heard that his son-in-law’s wedding was going to be held, he became upset. What will happen while talking with the owner of the sword shop that he jumped into? The highlights are the conversations between the characters and the development of the scenes.
* Our monthly guest is Oshidori, a husband and wife music comedian. * Oshidori is a combination of Ken and Mako. Ken has performed in theaters in Europe as a pantomime dancer, and is versatile in his skill with wire art and the theremin, an electronic musical instrument that produces sound without touching it. Mako is an accordion player who performs colorful music manzai performances. What kind of tricks will pop out on the day?
* At the end of the broadcast, we will have a relaxing after-talk with a drink in hand. *

* ■About Shinsuke and his friends*
The Mainichi Shimbun has started an online rakugo show together with master rakugo artist Shinsuke Kokontei to keep people laughing while many yose and rakugo shows have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. The distribution location is Master Shinsuke’s home practice studio, and from 2021, we have invited guests once a month.
We aim to increase the number of fans of classical performing arts and rakugo by taking advantage of the convenience of online viewing from the comfort of your own home.
