DMM Kariyushi Aquarium operates a new type of entertainment aquarium based on the concept of “a thrilling and extraordinary fantasy space with zero distance from living things”. Since opening in 2020, the number of visitors during the summer vacation period (July-August) has increased for five consecutive years, reaching a record high of 108,000 visitors this season. In the last week of August, there were some days when the number of tourists to Okinawa was sluggish due to the impact of Typhoon No. Thanks in part to the effects of the special event “Summer Festival 2024,” we achieved the highest number of visitors ever.
Additionally, according to a visitor survey*, the residence areas of the customers who visited our museum during the summer vacation period (July-August) were 20% overseas, 28% within Okinawa, and 52% outside Okinawa. Regarding the type of companionship of visitors, 55% were families, 40% were married couples/couples/friends, and 5% were other types.

■Growth of “DMM Kariyushi Aquarium” as seen from visitor data DMM Kariyushi Aquarium, which opened on May 25, 2020, has been attracting more and more visitors every year, and this year’s results have slightly exceeded the original goal. Additionally, in terms of visitor attributes, the percentage of visitors from overseas has doubled from last year to 20%. Domestically, there are many visitors from Tokyo and Osaka prefectures, and the number of visitors tends to be proportional to the number of flights arriving and departing from Naha Airport. On the other hand, the number of visitors from Okinawa Prefecture exceeds 30% for the whole year, and more than half of Okinawa residents are repeat visitors.
We have not only been able to enjoy looking at the aquarium, but we have also provided many programs where you can create an extraordinary photogenic space and interact with living creatures, which has been highly praised by many customers both domestically and
internationally, both inside and outside the prefecture. I’m thinking about it. In addition, with regard to original souvenirs from DMM Kariyushi Aquarium, the unit purchase price per visitor has been increasing, and profits are also trending steadily.
We will continue to offer attractive projects each season, such as Christmas events starting from mid-November. All of our staff will continue to operate the facility so that our customers can enjoy it even more.
