* About the living things collection app “Biome” *
“Biome” is a creature collection app that includes almost all species of plants and animals in Japan (approximately 92,800 species). When you take a picture of a creature you find, the AI will tell you the name of that creature. In addition, it has various functions related to living things, such as picture books, maps, SNS, quests, etc., and is an app that allows you to explore nature while looking for living things like a game (Fig.
1). Both the iOS and Android versions of the app have been released completely free of charge, and there are no advertisements, so a wide range of people can use it with confidence. Currently, the app has been downloaded more than 970,000 times and has received information about 7 million creatures discovered. The biological data collected is also utilized for surveys and research.
