Why not try reading the Constitution in 2024 with the combination of “Constitution x Art”? The popular exhibition “Japanese Constitution Exhibition 2024” will be held for the second time following last year. *Special exhibitions will be held at three locations in Tokyo to coincide with the promulgation date of the Japanese Constitution (November 3rd, Culture Day)*
The Japanese Constitution Exhibition Production Committee will hold the “Japanese Constitution Exhibition 2024” from Saturday, September 21, 2024 to Sunday, November 17, 2024.
2 following last year
The second “Japanese Constitution Exhibition 2024″ will focus on the Constitution and art, with Naoko Kado, curator of the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, as the exhibition director. For about two months before and after the promulgation of the Constitution, “Uninhabited Island Production” and “MISA” were established in Tokyo.
The event will be held at three venues: SHIN GALLERY, Aoyama | Meguro. This exhibition features the “Constitution of Japan” published in 2019 (edited by Gento Matsumoto, TAC
Publishing, Tokyo TDC Award 2021 Grand Prix winning work: The highest prize of 3,750 works in Japan and abroad, after publication, it was introduced in “Hodo Station”, “Sunday Art Museum”, etc.), and it is a new work different from the works published in the book. Selected works will be displayed in conjunction with the articles of the Japanese Constitution. This is an attempt to experience the
Constitution and look at it from a new angle.
The Constitution of Japan is the basis of life in this country, and all expressions are closely tied to that life. “Article ×
We hope that the combination of these works will provide new perspectives on contemporary social conditions, art trends, and our daily lives.
Why not take this exhibition as an opportunity to read about the “Constitution of Japan,” which is close to us and the foundation of our lives.
*Highlights of this exhibition*
* The Constitution and art are on display again! *
The first “Japanese Constitution Exhibition” held last year attracted a large number of visitors, especially on Constitution Day. The event was reported by the Asahi Shimbun, the Mainichi Shimbun, and the TOKYO Shimbun.
FM” “Bijutsu Techo” “Tokyo Art Beat” “ART
We received a wide range of introductions from general media such as “iT” to art-related media. The event received a great response, with people of all ages visiting, including not only art fans but also parents and children visiting an exhibition for the first time, as well as students. After that, the “Japanese Constitution Exhibition” was held in “Tokyo
Art
Selected as “Best Exhibition of 2023” by “Beat”. This second exhibition will be held at three locations in Tokyo from Saturday, September 21, 2024 to Sunday, November 17, 2024.
* “Japanese Constitution Exhibition 2024” is directed by Naoko Kado, curator of the Hiroshima Museum of Contemporary Art.*
Last year’s highly acclaimed “Japanese Constitution Exhibition” displayed articles of the Constitution alongside 28 works of art, offering a new way of looking at the Constitution and art. This year, with Mr. Kado as the exhibition director, we will create a place where you can feel closer to the Constitution with a variety of works. Almost 80 years have passed since its promulgation, and as times have changed dramatically, how do we read and feel about the Constitution now?
This year as well, we will be exhibiting the articles of the Japanese Constitution along with various works of art including paintings, manga, photographs, and objects. In the first half of 2024, Article 14 of the Japanese Constitution appears at the beginning of the NHK TV drama series “Tiger ni Tsubasa,” and with the Constitution receiving increasing attention throughout Japan, we hope that many people will come and see this exhibition. I hope you enjoy it.
* Held to coincide with the promulgation date of the Japanese Constitution (Culture Day) *
This exhibition will be held to coincide with November 3rd (Culture Day), the day the Japanese Constitution was promulgated. The combination of “laws and works” in this exhibition provides a viewing experience that is completely different from viewing law and art separately. By actually viewing them at the same time, you will be able to reconsider the meaning and content of the Constitution, which was promulgated in 1946, along with the art.
