After the greetings, there was a harvest ceremony, a commemorative photo session, and participants were given a ride on the harvester that is actually harvesting, allowing them to fully enjoy the once-a-year harvest. We plan to continue harvesting Hokkaido potatoes until the end of October.
* [About the potato harvest front] *
The harvest time for potatoes differs depending on the region. Potato harvest fronts, like the rainy season front and cherry blossom front, move northward earlier in the south.
Approximately 80% of the potatoes that the Calbee Group procures domestically are produced in Hokkaido.
Potatoes are procured from Kyushu, Kanto, and Tohoku, regions where the harvest season is early, and finally potatoes from Hokkaido. By taking advantage of Calbee’s storage technology and storing and using Hokkaido-produced potatoes for a long period of time until we procure Kyushu-produced potatoes the following year, we are able to provide a stable supply throughout the year.
