Hanawa Rice Be the source of smiles at the children’s cafeteria In late August 2020, Katsushika Ward received an offer from Hanawa Town, Fukushima Prefecture, to provide free rice through Tokyo Seiei University (1-4-6 Shinkoiwa, Katsushika Ward).

Hanawa Town, Fukushima Prefecture, has been working with Tokyo Seiei University, which is supporting earthquake recovery efforts and revitalizing the town, to provide support to children in Katsushika Ward, where it has become difficult to obtain rice these days. We prepared a total of 300 kg (10 bags of 30 kg) of rice for the children. The rice will be distributed from Tokyo Seiei University to organizations running children’s cafeterias in the ward on September 17th and 18th.
In response, the Mayor of Katsushika Ward sent a letter of thanks to the Mayor of Hanawamachi.

In 1998, Fukushima Prefecture’s Hanawa Town and Katsushika Ward concluded a “mutual support agreement in times of disaster.” Additionally, Tokyo Seiei University and Katsushika City concluded an “Agreement on Collaboration and Cooperation” in 2013.
Hanawamachi, which led to this free donation, and Tokyo Seiei University have been in contact for some time, and the antenna shop “Dari-chan Shop” continues to open on the university grounds several times a month. Dali-chan Shop sells vegetables and flowers grown in Hanawa-cho.
