I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for this valuable opportunity to visit the site and discuss with the people of Suzu City. This time, we wanted to make this a company-wide initiative, so we visited with a total of seven people from not only the Corporate Strategy Division, which is in charge of this initiative, but also the Sales Division and the Research and Development Division. Going forward, we will continue to work together with everyone involved to consider starting specific initiatives.

This time, I visited the site of the Noto Peninsula earthquake and felt the huge difference between imagination and reality. I was aware of the seriousness of the damage from the reports, but seeing the collapsed houses and swollen roads made me keenly aware of how difficult “reconstruction” would be as the reality exceeded my imagination.
Additionally, through dialogue with local people, we learned that local people want reconstruction assistance that is “looking toward the future.” Even after reconstruction, we have realized that we need support measures that allow residents to create new towns themselves and integrate them into their daily lives. As a company, we would like to explore initiatives that can build a lasting relationship of trust with the people of Noto, and do whatever we can to help the local people return to normal life as quickly as possible.

During this training session, I had the opportunity to hear valuable stories from Suzu City Deputy Mayor Kaneda and his staff, as well as people living in Suzu City and Wajima City.
Even in the face of a severe disaster, I can’t help but admire their attitude of never being pessimistic about the current situation and already taking action for the future.
The expression “reaching out” is often used to describe
reconstruction assistance, but everyone I met with me was reminded of the importance of working “hand in hand” and “side by side” so that goodwill is not a one-way street. I was touched by his enthusiasm and realized it again.
We hope to work together to implement the necessary initiatives for Oku-Noto so that a healthy daily life can return to Oku-Noto as soon as possible.
