DELUXESTO is from Miyazaki Prefecture and lives in Tokyo. I create canvas paintings based on my background in street culture and fashion. He incorporates the moments he wants to depict into his works, and without setting any limitations, he constantly changes his style and presents his works, which are popular with collectors not only in Japan but also overseas.
At the 2023 exhibition at Barneys New York Ginza main store pop-up store, he presented stylish portraits of him wearing fashion items in a cool manner, and since then he has continued to present portraits that look like scenes from anime.
It captures the spirit of the times through simple, stripped-down elements, line drawings, and stylish, vivid paintings.

Ever since I started working as an artist, or even before I became an artist, my actions and beliefs have been to do what I want to draw and what I want to do now. It means living true to yourself.
To date, I have traced the evolution of various styles, including abstract paintings, collages, and portraits with motifs of my roots. It’s similar to fashion trends. I was deeply fascinated by the phenomenon of fashion during my childhood. I think it was inevitable because of my nature. Because fashion is now.
However, expressing the ephemeral nature of fashion as a painting may not be a rational action. However, that is who I am, and I would like to honestly recognize the times with transparent eyes and flexible sensibilities, and express that.
I want to grow and evolve while enjoying change, rather than fearing it. I express fashion that is not about wearing clothes, a sense of the times that cannot be seen with the naked eye, and my current sensibility, which is neither the past nor the future.
I also hope that my expressions and activities can make some kind of positive contribution to the world, and I believe that the world will shine brighter if people, individuals, and individuals truly live their lives in their own way.
For this exhibition, we created works with the theme of things that can be seen and things that cannot be seen.
Flowers exist there, but can we really say they exist?
Also, do things that cannot be seen really not exist?
I expressed these questions with my own honesty and my current self, neither the past nor the future.

Born in Miyazaki Prefecture, lives in Tokyo. From the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. Studied fashion design at Tokyo Mode Gakuen and Kokono Gakuen for about 5 years. Started creating abstract paintings and collage works in 2020.
