Yokosuka City
[Urban Sports Town Yokosuka] BMX elementary school visit “Yokosuka BMX School Session 2024” was held!
……
In April 2022, Yokosuka City signed a “Collaboration Agreement Utilizing Urban Sports” with the Japan Freestyle BMX Federation (JFBF), a general incorporated association, with the aim of
revitalizing the region through urban sports, and will hold official BMX freestyle competitions. We are working to promote urban sports, including holding the “JapanCup Yokosuka.”
We would like to inform you that in advance of the BMX competition “JapanCup Yokosuka” to be held at Umikaze Park from the 26th to the 29th of this month, we conducted a visit to a BMX elementary school again this year as part of our efforts under the same agreement. In the lecture, the representative BMX freestyle coach and top rider conveyed to the children the appeal of BMX and the importance of having dreams and goals. In addition, the demonstrations, which were always a great success, were attended by not only the children but also teachers. Very excited too! We fully conveyed the joy of BMX. The BMX elementary school visit, now in its third year, has become so popular that we receive applications from many elementary schools each time.
We will continue to carry out various initiatives in various parts of the city with the aim of making BMX and other urban sports loved by many people as a part of Yokosuka’s culture and becoming more popular than ever!
