Emergency support begins for Typhoon No. 11 in Vietnam: AAR Japan On September 7, 2024, Typhoon No. 11 “Yagi” made landfall in northern Vietnam, and 141 people have been confirmed dead so far. Although the typhoon turned into a tropical cyclone on the 8th, heavy rain continued, causing major damage such as landslides, especially in the northern part of the country. Typhoon No. 11 is said to be the most powerful typhoon to have made landfall in Vietnam in the past 30 years, and there are concerns that the damage will expand.

AAR
Japan [Association for Refugees] will begin providing emergency support to typhoon victims in Vietnam. We plan to dispatch three Japanese staff to the disaster area to investigate the damage situation and distribute the necessary supplies.

AAR has provided emergency assistance when large-scale natural disasters occur in the Asian region, such as the eastern Taiwan earthquake in April of this year and the heavy rains in Laos in September last year. We will continue to swiftly provide support during the recent Vietnam typhoon. We sincerely ask for your cooperation in AAR’s emergency assistance.
