Emergency assistance begins for floods in Pakistan: AAR Japan Heavy monsoon rains have been occurring in Pakistan since July 2024, causing large-scale flooding in various parts of the country. Landslides, flash floods, and debris flows occur in the mountainous northern region, and as of September 11, 101 people have died, 144 people have been injured, and 974 buildings have been completely or partially destroyed. Transportation infrastructure such as roads and bridges, as well as facilities such as schools, have also been seriously damaged.
AAR
Japan [Association for Refugees] will provide emergency support to flood victims in Pakistan. On September 10th, we conducted interviews with the district government and local NGOs about the damage situation, and on the 11th, we dispatched staff from our Islamabad office to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which had experienced major damage, and began investigating the damage situation. .
Pakistan suffered severe damage from severe floods in the summer of 2022, and AAR provided emergency assistance such as food distribution and water supply support. We are currently continuing to provide support for recovery, including the maintenance of educational facilities.
