* Biography of Representative Director Hayaya Yamaguchi *
Graduated from Kyushu University, Department of Nuclear Engineering. While in school, researched decontamination simulation using big data. As CTO (Chief Technology Officer) at Ipros, a subsidiary of Keyence, he launched a big data-related service. I started studying English in earnest in order to acquire the English skills to read the latest technical literature written in English. As I struggled with English again, I encountered things like, “The gut theory that if you just listen to English, you’ll be able to do anything”, “boring and uniform learning materials”, “expensive individualized instruction that only elite employees of large companies can afford”, etc. I became acutely aware of various problems in English education in Japan. “I want to use the power of technology to provide the best English learning environment, optimized for each individual, at an affordable price,” he said when he founded Polyglots.
