Shapewin supports Sekisui House’s “IKUKYU.PJT” and promotes childcare leave for men
*~Supporting all employees to balance career and childcare with childcare leave support and flexible work styles~*
Shapewin Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Kamimura) provides PR and digital marketing support. Yusuke supports the project “IKUKYU.PJT” led by Sekisui House Co., Ltd., which considers childcare leave for men, and promotes men to take childcare leave.
* ◼️The rate of childcare leave taken by men exceeds 30%, but there are still many challenges*
According to a survey by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the rate of men taking childcare leave will exceed 30% for the first time in 2023, and there is a growing trend for companies to support men’s participation in childcare (*).
However, challenges still remain. In particular, there is a
deep-rooted concern that taking childcare leave will have a negative impact on one’s career, due to workplace culture and a lack of understanding from superiors, and many men tend to take only short-term childcare leave. Another problem is that society as a whole remains conscious of the division of gender roles, and a culture in which men are actively involved in childcare has not fully penetrated. Solving these issues requires a change in the mindset of companies and society.
* ◼️What is “IKUKYU.PJT” *
“IKUKYU.PJT” is a project to promote male childcare leave established by Sekisui House Co., Ltd. in 2019. We have designated September 19th as “Day to Think About Childcare Leave,” and have been conducting activities to make it easier for men to take childcare leave. In 2024, 153 companies and organizations, the largest number ever, will support this initiative, and we are working to spread the importance of paternity leave for men through web videos and SNS campaigns created based on actual experiences of taking paternity leave.

At ShapeWin, we actively support our employees so that they can work in a way that suits their lifestyles without giving up on their careers due to changes in their life stage or environment. These measures have been repeatedly improved based on requests from employees, and half of our employees are currently active while balancing childcare and work. Shapewin will continue to encourage employees to take childcare leave, as well as provide long-term support for the career development of employees who balance childcare and work.
