DAMDAM, an organic beauty brand from Japan, has a gallery space called DAMDAM in its flagship store Omotesando.
Chibi Gallery will open on September 19th (Thursday).
DAMDAM, which proposes clean skin care born from Japanese
craftsmanship and traditional natural ingredients, has previously held an event called “DAMDAM” where they develop new collaboration products for wellness.

There, founders Gisele Go and Philippe Therian will exhibit and sell works created in collaboration with talented young artists they met while traveling throughout Japan. Through works that reflect Japan’s soil and culture, he has conveyed Japan’s still-unknown charms.
This summer, with the opening of DAMDAM’s flagship shop, Omotesando store, “DAMDAM [Atelier]” will open “DAMDAM Chibi
Gallery” has been renewed.
As in the past, it will start as a place where the two founders meet and share not only the works of artists they were impressed with, but also the stories behind them.

The commemorative first exhibition artist was ceramic artist Raku Nakane. The Loewe Foundation Craft Prize showcases excellence, artistry and innovation in contemporary craftsmanship.
Mr. Nakane was also selected as a finalist for “2024” and is currently attracting attention both domestically and internationally. At DAMDAM, DAMDAM in December 2023
We have collaborated with [Atelier] and have created incense holders for DAMDAM incense and other products.
Mr. Nakane, who is a pottery maker based in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture, is known for his works, which are characterized by their beautiful “pork makeup” vessels and objects. The source of inspiration for these works is the rich nature in which he spent his childhood. I create works that have a strong presence and do not feel artificial, such as scenery created by nature over time or the appearance of old tools that have been used.
In addition to incense holders, this exhibition will feature a lineup of vessels and objects that will give you a greater sense of Mr. Nakane’s techniques and sensibilities.

The Gallery not only permanently displays and sells works by artists with whom they have collaborated, but also holds periodic exhibitions of their works. We are planning an exhibition of Yumiko Yasufuku in October 2024 and Aria Sugawara in November 2024. Please look forward to the future of DAMDAM

Something that lies between works as tools and works as sculptures. I express this gradation through my own filter. For example, it is like the ambiguity of the boundary between a stone-like vessel and a stone-like vessel, and there is a margin for expression. I continue to evolve as I try to explore expressions related to earth while keeping in mind the creation of shapes that feel comfortable when placed in a space.
