We have started a web questionnaire survey regarding the relationship between Asian flush constitution and viral infections.
*Survey on the relationship between strong/weak/inability to drink alcohol and infectious disease incidence*
* [Summary] ◆Saga University School of Medicine, Department of Social Medicine In the field of environmental medicine, we have started a questionnaire survey from Sunday, September 1, 2024 (until Saturday, October 5).
◆This is a survey on Asian flush constitution and history of viral infections. ◆This is a similar survey to the one conducted in August last year, with the number of viruses and people surveyed expanded (over 800 people last year, and 10,000 people this time). In the previous survey, it was found that people with Asian flush constitution were less likely to contract COVID-19. The results were published in a paper in March of this year and were introduced in many media outlets. *

The purpose of this survey is to obtain more solid scientific evidence regarding the relationship between Asian flush constitution and viral infections.

The development of this research is expected to contribute to basic medicine, drug discovery, and public health.

– Survey items: presence or absence of Asian flush constitution, drinking habits, amount of alcohol consumed, past medical history, vaccination history for the new coronavirus infection, history of illness, etc.
– Target infectious diseases: viral infections such as seasonal influenza, new coronavirus infection, herpes zoster, norovirus infection, etc.
– Ethical considerations: We will comply with ethical guidelines regarding life science and medical research involving human subjects. (Saga University Ethics Committee approval R5-11 on July 26, 2023, change approval R6-21 on July 29, 2024)
