*The young master and young proprietress of the inn make a call at Kanayama General Station to provide a “safe and secure journey”* September 11th, Youth Division of the National Federation of Ryokan and Hotel Life Hygiene Industry Associations (Eita Tsukashima) The Youth Manager (abbreviation: Zentra Travel Association Youth Division) participated in the “Campaign to Promote Safe Use of Escalators” held at Kanayama General Station.
Nagoya City has been conducting awareness campaigns since last year in response to the enforcement of an ordinance to promote the safe use of escalators. This awareness campaign aims to change people’s awareness by recommending that people “stop and ride escalators” and “ride in two rows.”
With the increase in inbound tourists, the number of tourists carrying large bags is also increasing, and walking on escalators poses a risk of serious accidents.
As an industry related to travel, the All Japan Travel Federation Youth Division is continually working to provide a safe and secure journey by widely disseminating the correct way to ride an escalator, from the perspective of keeping the mind barrier-free. We will continue to work on this.
Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura also participated in the campaign held at Kanayama Station, directly urging station users to stop and ride the escalators.
[When participating in the campaign]
“Continuing from last year, we participated in an awareness campaign at Kanayama Station.According to the City of Nagoya, approximately 93% of escalator users currently stop to get on and off the escalators. We will continue to provide safe and secure escalators. I hope that the public and private sectors will work together to promote its use.” -Taro Nishida, Tokai Block Leader, All Travel Federation Youth Group-
This was the third time that Nagoya City has undertaken this event, following on from last year, and it was a good opportunity to reaffirm the importance of safe escalator use. We, the Zentabiren Youth Division, would like to contribute to raising safety awareness not only at tourist destinations but also in everyday life. Through this initiative, we will strive to create a safer and more comfortable environment while working closely with the local community.
