In response to requests from customers who have experienced the experience, Nissan Motors has added a new feature to the Iruyo, “Madairuyo,” which prevents accidents where children are left in the car. This new feature will be unveiled at the Nissan Global
Headquarters Gallery on Sunday, September 15th.
Considering the importance of preventing accidents where children are left in cars, Akachan Honpo has announced a new feature added by Nissan to prevent accidents where children are left in cars on the special website “Living with Cars and Babies” on the Akachan Honpo official website. The content of “Madairuyo” has been released. https://www2.nissan.co.jp/SP/AKACHAN/
* Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.’s initiative to prevent accidents where children are left behind in the car *
Iruyo is a baby-sitting support robot while driving that was developed with the aim of contributing to safe and secure driving when only the driver and child are driving. Since the concept model was announced, we have received many valuable opinions and ideas. In particular, in response to numerous requests for a feature to prevent children from being left in the car, Nissan has been considering new features for Iruyo.
Accidents where a child is left in a car are a serious problem that can happen to anyone due to human error, and “1 in 5 parents have left their child behind in the car within the past year.”* 1 survey results have also been announced. Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., which promotes Zero Fatality*2, has launched the “Children Left Behind Accident Prevention Project”*3 with the aim of preventing accidents where children are left behind in cars, and achieving zero accidents inside cars. With the slogan “Madairuyo” encouraging people to look back at the back seat when getting off the train, “Place your bag in the back seat =” bag.
We are disseminating accident prevention measures such as “on-back” on our official website and SNS.
Now, we have added a new feature to the Iruyo, “Madairuyo,” which prevents accidents where children are left behind in the car. The new feature, “Madairuyo,” connects Iruyo in the car with the parent’s smartphone wirelessly, estimates the distance based on the strength and weakness of the connection, and recognizes when the parent is separated from Iruyo. In addition, Iruyo’s facial
recognition camera is used to determine if a child is left in the car. If Iruyo and the parent are separated by a threshold value*4 or more and it is determined that the child is left in the car, a warning notification is sent to the parent’s smartphone to notify them that the child has been left in the car.

*The more frequently people go out, the more they are worried about leaving things behind*
In August, Akachan Honpo conducted a survey through its research organization, the Living with Babies Research Institute, regarding the circumstances surrounding people going out by car.
The survey found that 28.5% of respondents said they took their children out in the car “about 1 to 2 days a week,” and 20.4% said “about 3 to 5 days a week.” When asked, “Have you ever felt worried or anxious about leaving your child in the car?” We found that a high percentage of people felt anxious.
