Three Pillars Shrine Autumn Grand Festival [Onigie] will be held (October 12th to 14th)
*The Gonikai is the first lord of the Yanagawa domain, Lord Tachibana Muneshige, Muneshige’s wife Chiyohime, and Gakufu.
It is a festival of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest, enshrining the three gods of Totsugi Michisetsu. October 12th (Sat) – 14th (Monday/holiday), 2020*
Three Pillars Shrine, which enshrines Muneshige Tachibana, the first lord of the Yanagawa domain who was known as the “strongest man in the western country” (Location: 323-1 Takahata, Mitsuhashi-cho, Yanagawa City/Priest)
Seitaro Tachibana) will hold the Onigi-e, the most important ritual of our festival, from October 12th (Saturday) to October 14th
(Monday/Holiday), 2026. I will go to the funeral service.
Onigie is a gathering of the first lord of the Yanagawa domain, Lord Tachibana Muneshige, Muneshige’s wife Chiyohime, and Gakufu. This is a grand autumn festival that enshrines the three deities of Toji Michisetsu. This festival, which began as a festival of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest with the idea of making it lively to please the gods, came to be called Onigie, and has continued to be passed down to this day.
* The town of Yanagawa becomes lively as the procession of the shrine parades along the approach to the shrine and through the town, accompanied by the “Dorotsudon” festival float, which has been designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by Fukuoka Prefecture, and dancing floats. *
During these three days, street vendors line the grounds of
Mitsubashira Shrine.
* The climax will be the “Shinko Procession” from the afternoon of the 13th. * Dorotsukudon is a performance in which dancers lean heavily from a float and perform a unique dance accompanied by music.The intense rhythm of large drums and gongs inspires the dancers, enlivening the festival.

Distribution of paper-cut goshuin books will start from October 1st. During the festival, it is scheduled to last until around 7pm every day.
