Once a year, Family Lab holds an event called “Famispe” to help parents of children who are not attending school.
This time, we planned a seminar on the theme of “What parents can do at home to support their children’s independence” from the
perspective of “The importance of visual support and separation of mother and child.”
In addition, one of the themes of FamiSpe is to support parents who are full of their minds and hearts every day with their children, such as by interacting with other parents who have the same concerns.

Improving communication between parents and children, a common problem associated with school refusal
When your child refuses to go to school, do you ever feel like you have a hard time communicating with them?
Parents are anxious and tend to blurt out unnecessary things. If this happens, children who are no longer able to go to school and who have lost their confidence tend to take things in a way that is contrary to their parents’ intentions, and may end up taking things in a negative light no matter what they say.
In such cases, communicating with visual aids can be an essential tool to prevent mutual misunderstandings, help improve parent-child relationships, and clarify the outlook to alleviate anxiety.
This time’s lecturer is representative of Omemedo Co., Ltd.
Ayako Okudaira developed visual aid goods to support children with autism. Although it is not well known to the general public, these support goods are extremely useful for everyone in a variety of situations.
One of the characteristics of autism is difficulty in communication and a strong sense of anxiety, but there are some things in common with children who are refusing to go to school, and the mothers at Familabo also sell goods from Omemedou Co., Ltd. I use it regularly and use it to improve parent-child relationships. Not only the children but also the parents themselves find out about this kind of support, which makes their lives much easier.
An example of Omemedou Co., Ltd.’s Community Memo (R) used by a Family Lab mom * *Mitooshi Memo*
We create a sense of security by creating a concrete schedule from preparing to go to the hospital to returning home, and creating an outlook for the day.
* *Story memo (R)*
A message from a school teacher to a child can be conveyed directly from the teacher’s words, rather than from the mother’s words.

About NPO members
*What is FamiSpe*
FamiSpe is an annual event where mothers of children who are refusing to go to school or who are not good at school gather from all over the country to participate in seminars and socialize.
The venues will be held in Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo on a rotating basis, with speakers such as researchers, doctors, and people who have experienced school refusal being invited to speak, and offline meetings will be held to provide a place for mothers to connect with each other. This also provides an opportunity to encourage mothers to become independent.
The theme of FamiSpe is “Supporting moms’ first experiences.”
●It’s your first time to leave your child alone and go out for a long time. ●For the first time, I left my family behind and traveled alone overnight. ●For the first time, spend money just for yourself.
I also think it would be nice to be able to gently push those moms back for the first time.
I would be happy if your child could see mom’s independence and mom’s enjoyment.
*All families with children who are refusing to go to school, withdrawn from school, or are concerned about their child’s
development are welcome to participate in this family event, but we encourage everyone to take it easy when it comes to social gatherings and sightseeing the next day. Since the concept is to have fun, we are only open to people who are mothers. (Including women (attachment figures) who are being raised by someone other than their mother for some reason)
Thank you for your understanding.
