[Machida City, Tokyo] Autumn tradition of Mt. Shichikuni! Buckwheat flowers are at their peak.
Last year’s situation
Buckwheat flowers are in full bloom in the northwest of Machida Yakushiike Park Shikisai-no-Mori, in the fields near the Peony Garden, Furusato Agricultural Tools Museum, and Shichikokuyama Farmers Center. These buckwheat flowers are cultivated by the Shichikuniyama Fureai no Sato Association, which is made up of local farmers, in order to preserve the agricultural landscape. After enjoying the flowers, we collect the buckwheat seeds and sell them as buckwheat and buckwheat flour at the Furusato Agricultural Tools Museum from around April every year.

– *About Machida City*
Machida City has a population of approximately 430,000 people and is located in the southern part of Tokyo, about 30 minutes by train from the city center. The area around Machida Station is lined with large commercial facilities, and the shopping district that has flourished since ancient times is still alive and well. If you move a little further from the station, you will find a lot of nature, such as Satoyama scenery, parks full of greenery, and farmland where local vegetables are grown. It is a city where you can enjoy both the convenience of the city and nature.
