Kimitsu no Asameshi is an experiential event where you can cook rice in a kamado and hagama and eat your fill of freshly cooked rice. Reservations for the fall event have begun.
Kimitsu’s morning meal started in the spring of 2024, and after a summer break to avoid the intense heat, the fall season will finally begin. Reservations will be accepted from September 15th, and can be made from Kimitsu’s morning meal website.
* ◆What is Kimitsu’s morning meal*
Kimitsu Morning Meshi is an outdoor hands-on event where participants chop wood, light the stove, and cook rice in a hakama pot under the blue sky. It is held in the Seiwa district of Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture, on Sunday mornings in the spring and autumn when the weather is nice, avoiding the rainy season, the intense heat of summer, and the cold of winter.
You can enjoy experiences that you can’t do every day, such as chopping wood, cooking rice in a hagama pot, and making soybean flour using a stone mill.
We provide everything you need for the experience, including cooking utensils, ingredients, tableware, and more, so you can participate empty-handed. For those who are new to Hagama cooking, local veteran Hagama cooking experts will assist you with the cooking process, so you can feel at ease even if you are bringing small children with you.

* ◆What is Kimitsu City?*
Kimitsu City, Chiba Prefecture is located in the central part of Chiba Prefecture, on the Tokyo Bay side, on the south side of Kisarazu City, the entrance to Chiba on the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line.
In Kimitsu City, there is Mt. Shikano, which is rich in nature and has been designated as Minamiboso Quasi-National Park, and Kimitsu Morning Meshi is held in the Kiyowa district at the foot of Mt. Shikano.

* ◆Hagama Cooking Master*
The Seiwa district is a “village”-like area that still has a rich natural environment, and is best described as a countryside or hometown.
Although this is an area with a high aging rate, there are many elderly local residents who say, “When I was little, I used to cook rice in a Hagama pot every morning.” These people are the Hagama-daki masters of Kimitsu’s Morning Meals, and they teach participants who are trying Hagama-daki for the first time on tips such as how to adjust the heat on the stove.

* ◆In the spring event*
It was held every Sunday morning from April to June 2024. The event was a great success, with a full house on the day it was held, and was covered by many media outlets.
Most of the participants were family and friends, with people coming not only from within the prefecture but also from across the Aqua Line from Kanagawa and Tokyo. We already have repeat visitors, and over 200 participants enjoyed the event on the day of the event.
The amount of water is up to the participants themselves.

* ◆Autumn event*
It is scheduled to be held on Sunday mornings from October to the end of November (please check the reservation page for details). Please note that the event will be canceled if there is bad weather forecast for the event.
However, please note that due to the current rising price of rice, the price of rice may be increased slightly (by several tens of yen per cup). There are no plans to increase any other fees.
Eggs to choose from
* ◆Kimitsu breakfast mark*
A little bit about Kimitsu’s breakfast mark, which is often asked about. Kimitsu’s breakfast mark has two small circles surrounded by a larger circle. It is an image of a large round bowl with two yolks on top. Kimitsu’s breakfast comes with two fresh eggs per person, a specialty of Kimitsu. The symbol is derived from the words “Two eggs, two yolks,” 2 yolks, 2 yolks, 2 Kimitsu, 2 Kimitsu, and Kimitsu. At first, I expected that I wouldn’t be able to finish all of my meals with just two eggs, but the delicious Hagama rice seems to go well and many people order more.
At the spring event, participants made clever use of two eggs to enjoy their meals, such as making egg-cooked rice, fried eggs, and rice porridge.

* ◆Applications must be reserved in advance*
Kimitsu Asameshi only serves fresh eggs, and for this reason, the eggs are only purchased at the last minute.
It is necessary to know the number of participants in advance to ensure that there is not too much or too little on the day of the event, so advance reservations are required.
You can now make reservations for participation on Kimitsu’s Morning Meshi website.
Fees are paid in cash on the day of the event, so no procedures are required in the event of cancellation due to bad weather, etc. In the event of cancellation, those who made reservations the day before will be contacted.
