This is Sumida’s craftsmanship! The world-class traditional hands-on exhibition “Oedo Sumida Craftsmen” will be held from September 20th. *Four days of gathering the skills of 22 Sumida Ward craftsmen, including sales of Edo Kiriko and other crafts*

* Oedo Sumida Artisan Exhibition Executive Committee (Chairman Tanaka) Eiji) will hold the “Oedo Sumida Craftsman Exhibition”, an exhibition where you can experience the skills of various craftsmen who connect the traditions of Sumida Ward to the present day, from September 20th (Friday) to September 23rd (Monday holiday), 2024. The event will be held at the Masumida Hokusai Museum MARUGEN100 (lecture room) (2-7-2 Kamezawa, Sumida-ku). This year as well, Sumida craftsmen will demonstrate their skills and offer hands-on craft experiences. We will also hold special sales events for leather products, glass products, etc. *
This year’s concept is to “talk” with the craftsmen, “see” the craftsmanship, and “make” the craftsmanship.
This year’s Oedo Sumida Artisan Exhibition will be held as an “experience-based exhibition” with the concept of “talking” with artisans, “seeing” their skills, and actually “creating” them.

There will also be “production demonstrations” where you can show off the skills of craftsmen, “craft experiences” where you can learn directly from craftsmen, and works that have been painstakingly completed by craftsmen on display and for sale.
There are a variety of experiences that both children and adults can enjoy, such as Yuzen dyeing, making small tatami mats, and printing woodblock prints. Why not feel the world-class tradition from a distance of 30 cm from the hands of the craftsmen?
This year, we have decided to accept advance reservations for craft experiences.
