To all news organizations
September 17, 2024 AssistMotion Inc. Representative Director Minoru Hashimoto We will be unveiling for the first time the curara, a walking training robot for children that can be worn from a height of 90 cm.
We at AssistMotion Co., Ltd. (http://assistmotion.jp/

) is a venture company originating from Shinshu University. We are developing the business of curara, a walking training robot for rehabilitation.

We would like to inform you that through joint research between Nagano Children’s Hospital and AssistMotion Inc., we have developed a small and lightweight pediatric curara that can be used for children with cerebral palsy.
We worked on the development of curara for children with the support of a growth industry support subsidy from the Nagano Prefecture Industrial Promotion Organization. Because children’s physique changes significantly as they grow, there are two sizes available: S size (height 115cm and up) and SS size (height 90cm and up).
Currently, clinical research is underway at Nagano Prefectural Children’s Hospital.
Until now, curara was only available in adult sizes, but we plan to make it available for children between 90cm and 150cm in height. The robot weighs only 1.9kg, which is extremely light. A press conference will be held as shown below, so please come and join us.

■About Nagano Prefectural Children’s Hospital
Nagano Prefectural Children’s Hospital opened in 1993 as Nagano Prefecture’s only hospital specializing in children, and functions as a core hospital for advanced pediatric medical care that is difficult to provide at general medical institutions, and as the prefecture’s comprehensive perinatal maternal and child medical center. I have been in charge of this. As of September 1, 2024, the hospital has 200 beds and 26 clinical departments, and in addition to advanced critical care, it provides medical support during the transition to adulthood, strengthened support for children under medical care, and provides treatment for intractable patients through various specialized centers. We provide the latest and best medical care in a wide range of fields, including an enhanced medical treatment system for diseases and early detection using state-of-the-art testing equipment, and we hope to meet the expectations of patients and families within and outside the prefecture, as well as related medical institutions, educational and welfare institutions, etc. We are responding to Currently, in addition to the “medical care that saves lives,” which we have always cherished, we are practicing “medical care that nurtures lives.”
This research has been carried out in collaboration with AssistMotion Inc. since November 2022 by the Neurocare Center, which collaborates with multiple departments within the hospital. For children with neurological and muscular diseases that cause walking difficulties, such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida, we aim to utilize
rehabilitation using the pediatric walking training robot curara, to maintain or improve walking function, and improve rehabilitation and daily life. We aim to lead to increased motivation.
