In this tournament, high school students from geek club activities that make full use of computers, such as the computer club,
information processing club, robo contest club, and e-sports club, learn the knowledge and skills related to cutting-edge AI/ICT that will be needed in the future, and team up. This is a pioneering competition in Japan, where participants aim to be at the top of the nation, and this year marks the 6th time since the 0th competition was held in 2019.

◇Contest background
Currently, many countries around the world are actively promoting AI and ICT education for high school students. These technologies are an essential part of the future of industry, innovative research, and everyday life. Particularly in the field of AI, machine learning, data analysis, and automated decision-making are emerging as important skills for future careers.
On the other hand, it is sometimes pointed out that Japan lags behind other countries in this field. Reasons for this delay include the lack of flexibility in existing educational curricula and systems, the slow response to technological innovations, and the lack of expertise among educators. Another issue with Japan’s education system is the limited provision of practical AI and ICT learning opportunities for students. Against this background, events such as the National High School AI Athlete Championships are gaining in importance, attracting
expectations and attention. This competition aims to help Japanese high school students catch up to the international level by providing them with an opportunity to compete on their AI and ICT knowledge and skills and foster teamwork. It is hoped that this program will draw out students’ interests and abilities in these technologies and contribute to laying the foundation for them to succeed at the industrial forefront of the future super-advanced information society. The Mirai Kids Contents Research Institute, a general incorporated association, has been working on Japanese AI/AI through program production and event management.
