*Exploring the possibilities of CMF (color, material, finish) from both physical and digital perspectives*
Creative Center, the design division of Sony Group Inc. (hereinafter “Sony”), is organizing the design and art festival “DESIGNART” which will be held in Tokyo from October 18th (Friday) to October 27th (Sunday), 2024.
We will participate in “TOKYO 2024 (Designart Tokyo)”. The exhibitor will be CMF (Color, Material,
CREATE MORE FUN is an experiential exhibition that explores the possibilities of color, material, and finish from both physical and digital perspectives.
You can see it in a section of the showroom of the global furniture brand “Stellar Works” in Aoyama at “Fan”.
When considering CMF for products, the Creative Center also uses its unique perspective to suggest colors and materials that should be incorporated into future Sony products and services. These design areas are one of the important elements for providing products and services that deeply resonate with people. Because the same material can give different impressions depending on changes in social background, etc., the Creative Center continually conducts trend analysis and field research, including CMF, by domestic and
international designers. We use these research results to decipher the trends of consumers and designers and create a tool called the “CMF Framework,” which organizes keywords, visuals, color palettes, and sample materials into clusters to predict future trends.
“CREATE MORE FUN” is a design event “3daysofdesign” held in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is an experiential exhibit that was popular at “2024”. We will introduce eight CMF clusters derived by designers through research activities, along with a collection of curated materials. In addition, we will also be collaborating with Stella Works in a prototype exhibition where you can experience the CMF Framework as an
interactive design tool.

This year’s theme of “DESIGNART TOKYO 2024” is “Reframing”
-The Beginning of a Transformation-” aims to look at things from a different perspective, without being bound by previous concepts and frameworks. Through this exhibition, Sony designers will explore new design possibilities by combining CMF with flexibility and
playfulness.
