JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for a fuel surcharge for international cargo originating from Japan that will be applied from October 1, 2024. Since the standard average price of jet fuel in August 2024 was 91.93 USD per barrel, the fuel index price was set as “90.00 or more and less than 95.00,” and the surcharge amount was 68 yen per 1 kg (for countries far away such as the Americas and Europe). 41 yen (long-distance routes in Asia), 36 yen (short-distance routes in Asia).
JAL revises international cargo fuel surcharges originating from Japan 12 times a year (monthly), and each month’s cargo fuel surcharge amount is based on the “average price of jet fuel (kerosene) traded in Singapore for the month before the previous month.” As a fuel index price, the surcharge amount will be determined according to the table below introduced from April 2024.
JAL will strive to provide stable cargo transportation services while doing its utmost to help itself.
