[JKK Tokyo x Katsushika Ward] Providing exclusive housing utilizing the housing safety net system
JKK Tokyo (Tokyo Metropolitan Housing Supply Corporation: Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, Chairman: Keizo Nakai, hereinafter “JKK”) is
collaborating with Katsushika Ward to develop exclusive housing *1 (hereinafter “exclusive housing”) utilizing the housing safety net system. ) will be provided to elderly households in Katsushika City.
JKK will provide JKK Housing *2 “Tomin Heim Higashishin Koiwa 6-chome (6-21-1 Higashishin Koiwa, Katsushika Ward)” as a dedicated housing, and Katsushika Ward will begin recruiting tenants for the dedicated housing on September 26, 2020. It starts on (Thursday).

*1 Background and purpose*
JKK, which plays a part in the housing safety net function in Tokyo, supports people who need special consideration in securing housing when moving into JKK housing in Tokyo.
JKK started providing dedicated housing in FY2020, and has so far provided a total of 53 dedicated housing units (as of the end of August 2020) in 7 local governments (5 wards and 2 cities). .
On the other hand, in Katsushika City, the priority project is to secure high-quality housing where everyone from children to the elderly can live safely and comfortably. We have started a rent subsidy system.
Against this background, JKK has decided to newly provide JKK housing as exclusive housing to elderly households living in Katsushika Ward, contributing to housing support for those who require special consideration to secure housing in Katsushika Ward.
* 2 Main cooperation details *
JKK will provide some of the JKK housing units in Katsushika Ward as exclusive housing, and Katsushika Ward will publicly recruit prospective tenants and will also issue a “rent reduction subsidy”*3. JKK will directly conclude a rental contract with the prospective tenant determined by Katsushika Ward, and will receive payment from Katsushika Ward for the “rent reduction subsidy.”
As a result, tenants can live at a rent that is reduced by the “rent reduction subsidy” amount from their regular rent, making it possible to secure stable housing.
*3 The share of the subsidy is 1/4 by the ward, 1/4 by the
metropolitan area, and 1/2 by the national government. There are certain requirements for the subsidy amount.
