| Message from Iemoto Akane Teshigahara | “The source of creativity is the spirit of play” | As the previous head of the school, Hiroshi Teshigahara, said, by playing, we can escape the constraints of common sense, liberate our minds, and acquire new perspectives that lead to rich creation. Isn't it? | This exhibition will be held based on the spirit of Hiroshi, who throughout his life continued to inspire himself and those around him to be “more free and richer.” | Before the 100th anniversary of Sogetsu's founding school, which is coming up in three years, I would like to once again keep in mind Sogetsu's spirit of respecting freedom and individuality, which has been passed down since its founding, and fly freely through the world of creation. I think so. | We sincerely hope that as many people as possible can enjoy the energy of “play” that fills the venue. | Sogetsu school headmaster Akane Teshigahara |

About Ikebana Sogetsu style | Sogetsu Ikebana began in 1927 when the first head of the school, Sofu Teshigahara, had doubts about Ikebana, which was based on formality, and sought free expression that respected individuality. Sogetsu's ikebana is always new and freely reflects a person's individuality, without being bound by “forms.” The Sogetsu style can be used anytime, anywhere, by anyone, and using any material. We entrust the flowers with the free thoughts of the person who arranges them, and we arrange them freely in our own way. | In addition, Sogetsu's ikebana, which has changed with the times, is not only enjoyed in each home, but also brings the beauty and peace of plant expression to all kinds of spaces in society, such as window displays and stage art. |
