The Sweeping Genius team (Prefectural Daiichi High School, Kumamoto Commercial High School, and Lutheran Gakuin High School), competing for the first time, won the championship by making full use of their brains. Although the amount of trash picked up was lower than the second-place team, more than half of the trash collected by the Cleaning Genius team was bottles, cans, and plastic bottles, which are high points at Sports GOMI Koshien, and they efficiently earned points.
