(Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Kenichi Hori; hereinafter referred to as Mitsui & Co.) We have developed the J-Green Registry, a support system for forest J-Credit creation and management operations. Mitsui & Co. is working to create “J-Credit” through forest management. J-Credit is a system in which the country certifies the amount of greenhouse gas emission reductions and absorption. It can be used to report on the Global Warming Countermeasures Act and the Energy Saving Act, as well as to achieve the goals of the Keidanren Carbon Neutral Action Plan, and promotes corporate investment towards a decarbonized society by fairly evaluating activities that contribute to reducing greenhouse gases. Starting with the creation of J-Credits in company-owned forests, Mitsui & Co. has started a J-Credit joint creation project with forest owners and managers such as local governments, and is working to standardize operations and further expand the scope of support in the future. We have decided to go digital. The newly developed J-Green Registry supports all operations necessary to obtain J-Credit through forest management. We manage basic information such as forest area, location, tree species, and conservation status in units of blocks called forest subgroups, and create reports necessary for applying for J-Credit. The system also utilizes the latest digital technology. Mitsui & Co. has developed a system that will significantly improve the efficiency of patrol operations by acquiring satellite images of forests from Google Earth Engine and using an image analysis algorithm developed independently by Mitsui & Co. Ursystems participated in the project from the digitalization stage and served as an advisor. Afterwards, as we moved forward with systemization in earnest, we handled all phases of requirements definition, technical verification, development, maintenance, and operation.
