We expressed our short time as high school students with a meteor that shines for one night only. A single meteor looks like stardust, but when many come together to form a meteor shower, it becomes a strong light that can even pierce the clouds. For us, blackboard art is a collection of images that, like this meteor shower, cannot be created by one person. I believe that when many individual strengths are combined, it becomes the power that can overcome everything. I want you to see us continue to evolve, both now and in the future. That’s what I thought when I drew it. When you look out the window at dusk, you’ll see multiple meteors forming a group and shining in a vivid parabola. He combined his own high school life into the momentary brilliance and flow of the scene, and expressed the meaning, “When meteors become a group, they become a strong light that can pierce even the clouds, and the power that cannot be produced by one person becomes the power that can pierce through everything when combined.” It seems like it is. This song expresses the anxiety we experience as we grow up, the desire to move forward in our own way despite being confused by the abundance of choices, the way others look at us, and the idea that the future is limitless after we get lost. Ta. Both in the planning stage and after production began, all members were never together, and things did not proceed as planned, but the three main members, who were second-year students, extended their club activities every day. I made it. The most difficult part was the huge amount of cubes. We drew each line one by one, taking into account the perspective, but it was difficult to draw the correct shape, so the other members had to correct the lines drawn by one member over and over again, and everyone filled it up. I was able to do that. Thanks to that, I was able to deepen my interactions with other members. I drew with a brush using chalk mixed with water, used masking tape, and even pressed a sponge or eraser like a stamp. We paid special attention to the fine print on the signboard, so please take a look. I was overwhelmed by not only the impact of the work at first glance, but also the possibilities for expression through the use of multiple colors and changing the shape of the chalk, and the sense of cohesiveness that didn’t feel too noisy even though there were many three-dimensional objects. In addition, the attention to detail in the work, such as the signboard, is a work that surprises and impresses the viewer. I was impressed by the bright colors, the passion for the work, and the charm that makes you look at the composition, making it worthy of the Grand Prize. ■2024 Tournament The number of applications for the junior division has reached the highest number of applications. The total prize amount has been increased to the equivalent of 2 million yen Since the establishment of the competition, the number of works submitted to the main competition for the Jigaku Blackboard Art Koshien (R) has reached 1,172, and the total number of works in the junior division, whiteboard division, and video division totals 1,797. This year’s competition saw 166 entries in the junior category, breaking last year’s record for entries, which is about 1.6 times the number from last year. Based on this result, we have decided to gift book cards to the junior division in addition to Nihon Gaku products. Additionally, the total prize amount was planned to be worth 1.5 million yen, but it has been increased to 2 million yen. The submitted works are irreplaceable and have spread the artistry and creativity of blackboard art to the world and laid the foundation for the
competition. Nichigaku Co., Ltd. will continue to popularize blackboard art, spread the value of the act of drawing by hand, and encourage as many people as possible to see and empathize with the colorful blackboard art, thereby expanding opportunities for young people to play an active role.
