Mizkan Group (Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as Mizkan) and Kyoto City will be proposing “Motai Nabe”, a menu item that will help you eat deliciously and contribute to reducing food waste this year as well, allowing you to eat all of Kyoto’s vegetables deliciously without wasting any waste. “Mottai Nabe” is a project launched by Mizkan and Kyoto City in 2020 with the aim of reducing food waste at home, allowing anyone to easily save vegetables that tend to be left over or parts that would normally be thrown away. According to a survey conducted by Kyoto City in 2017, the average food loss per household (assuming a family of four) is 5,000 yen per month. In addition, according to the 2021 Kyoto City Survey, when looking at the breakdown of food loss by food, vegetables accounted for the largest share at 33%, and “using up vegetables deliciously” will greatly contribute to reducing food loss. This year, the fifth year of the initiative, we will support household finances by developing seven new easy and delicious recipes that will help you enjoy all the vegetables that tend to be left over and ingredients that support local production and consumption. From October 15th (Tuesday), 50 people will be able to win a Quo Card Pay worth 5,000 yen on the Mizkan official account on the SNS “X” (formerly Twitter). Supporting household finances! #MotaiNabeCampaign will be held nationwide. Please take a look at the special page on the Mizkan Global Site, where recipes for all menus are available. ■“Mottainabe” menu example
