https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnkKac29hFI The display at the Tokyo Ginza Shiseido Building from October to December 2023 is themed around the ancient Japanese aesthetic of traditional crafts, and we created trees and wreaths with craftsmen in Kyoto. The motif of the large window display is a Japanese umbrella. While researching Japanese umbrellas, I focused on the elements of “bamboo bones and decorative threads”. The design, which deliberately exposes the bamboo ribs and decorative threads that are normally on the inside of the umbrella and can only be seen by the user, represents Shiseido’s corporate stance of exploring the beauty that exists there and striving to define new beauty. Expressing. ・“Red Dot Design Award” Judging Comments “The ‘Beauty from within’ Brand Store blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship, inspired by the WAGASA umbrella, with contemporary design. reveals It the intricate bamboo ribs and decorative threads, symbolizing the inner beauty of both the craft and the individual. Taking advantage of the Marunouchi location and affinity with the exhibition, the venue design incorporates the theme of recycling and recycling waste tiles. More than 1 million tons of highly durable Japanese roof tiles are discarded each year due to reconstruction or disasters, and most of them end up in landfills. In this exhibition, waste tiles from Japan’s three major tiles (Sanshu Kawara, Sekishu Kawara, and Awaji Kawara) will be used as is, as well as processed into crushed stone or powder and recycled into spatial designs and products. We aim to contribute to the local community as a project that gives new meaning to waste materials and achieves both sustainability and beauty. ・List of awards for this project Award name Award history Red Dot Design Award 2024 ” Red Dot ” Japan Space Design Award 2024 ” Sustainable Space Award ” 43rd Display Industry Award (2024) ” Display Industry Excellence Award (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Minister’s Secretariat Vice-Minister for Commerce and Services Award) ” ・Project members CREATIVE DIRECTOR: Ryosuke Suzuki (HAKUTEN) DESIGNER: Kodai Fukuchi, Akira Maruyama, Yuka Okamoto, Masaki Ueno (HAKUTEN) PLANNING DIRECTOR: Ayumu Watanabe (HAKUTEN) PROJECT MANAGER: Yuka Sanbo (HAKUTEN) GRAPHIC DESIGNER: Jun Miyazaki (HAKUTEN) PRODUCT MANAGER: Kohei Kumazaki (HAKUTEN) CONSTRUCTOR: Yohei Honda, Takashi Tagusagawa (HAKUTEN) PHOTO: Akita Kudo (Kudo Original Photo) MOVIE: Kojima Ponsuke (Saturation) ▼About the awards ・“Red Dot Design Award” This is a global design award sponsored by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen since 1955.
