The 49th Amateur Baseball Japan Championship (sponsored by Mainichi Shimbun and the Japan Baseball Federation) is being held at Kyocera Dome Osaka in Osaka City. It has been decided that Tomohiro Kuroki and Masahide Kobayashi, former members of the professional baseball team Chiba Lotte Marines, will appear as commentators for the semi-finals and beyond. Currently, he is coaching pitchers such as Roki Sasaki as Lotte’s first-team pitching coach. Mr. Kuroki also has experience playing adult baseball for Shin-Oji Paper Kasugai (currently Oji).

He was nicknamed “Makuhari’s Breakwater” and supported the team as a closer. He also played in the US Major League. After retiring, he experienced coaching at Lotte and Orix, and served as Ajec’s general pitching coach from 2021 to this season.
