 Since 2019, iRobot has been rolling out its own subscription service “Robot Smart Plan ” (commonly known as Robosuma). Since April of this year, used Robosma products have been serviced by our certified partner Address Service Co., Ltd. (Togane City, Chiba Prefecture) and offered as reusable products at up to 70% off on the official online store, which has been well received. This time, in collaboration with Togane City, Chiba Prefecture, where Address Service is based, a refurbished and reused Roomba will be adopted by the city as a hometown tax return gift. Our desire to expand the possibilities of iRobot’s reusable products and deliver them to even more customers overlaps with our desire to contribute to local governments, and we have also achieved the goals of “Responsible Production and Responsible Use,” which are the 12 items of the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs. This project was made possible because iRobot is also working on solving problems to make this a reality.  At Address Service, we carefully manually service each Roomba that has finished its role with Robosma, and maintain it so that it can be used comfortably again. iRobot Japan is looking forward to contributing to Togane City’s “second hometown” as a return gift for hometown tax donations.  Regarding the adoption of Roomba’s first hometown tax return gift iRobot Japan Representative Executive Officer and President Hajime Hikino said, “We were fortunate to have a Roomba reuse center in Togane City, Chiba Prefecture, and we are very happy that our product was chosen as a return gift for hometown tax payments.Togane City is a great place for us. “The municipality is on the verge of a major transformation, and I would like to cherish this initiative with the city and Address Service, which reuses Roombas that would otherwise be thrown away.”  Meanwhile, Mayor Rikuro Shikama of Togane City, Chiba Prefecture said, “The use of reused products is one of the
initiatives that contribute to solving social issues such as carbon neutrality.
