Their signature song is “I Want to See You Too Much”) Story & Background Kanazawa has cherished its history and culture. However, with changing lifestyles, this tradition is becoming more difficult each year. Furthermore, after the Noto Peninsula earthquake, the younger generation, acutely aware of a lack of understanding of “how things break and how to fix them,” which is essential for the local community, began to explore new forms of connection that would strengthen the community’s immunity. Kanazawa U35 was born from this awareness. Intergenerational co-creation and interaction with people from both within and outside the region. By bringing together the generations that have built Kanazawa to date and the younger generation who will carry the city into the future, the city will regain its breath and its culture will be nurtured once again. With this in mind, Kanazawa U35 is taking its first steps.

Set at HOTEL LINNAS in Kanazawa, the event will feature talk sessions on the theme of space-making, the “Honobono” culture market, and meetups that transcend generations and regions. Both physical and conceptual “places” change the atmosphere of a city and foster culture through encounters between people. “Magusaba” is a symbol of this. Kanazawa U35 aims to foster horizontal collaboration among younger generations, vertical collaboration with veterans, and new
relationships with related populations and immigrants. The project primarily focuses on the U35 generation, but also includes alumni and people who support younger generations, fostering horizontal and vertical co-creation both within and outside the region. This project has also been adopted by Kanazawa City’s “Related Population Creation Proposal Project.” Ishikawa has long been deeply connected to the culture of fermentation, with soy sauce and sake breweries. This region has cultivated its culture through fermentation, and the “Brewing Place” initiative embodies the spirit of “learning from the past and creating something new.” Facilitated by local players, guests from outside the region will discuss the theme of “place.” This fermentation-focused event, where young and veteran brewers, both local and international, can mingle, is planned to be held regularly.

And “place” (ba) refers not only to the physical space, but also to the relationships and atmosphere between people. Combining these two elements, “Kazouba” (Brewing Place) symbolizes Kanazawa’s culture, co-creation between young and veteran people, and both within and outside the region. The trigger was the Noto Peninsula earthquake. Having experienced both being affected by the disaster and providing support, I was able to see the reality that “both
individuals and communities lack understanding of how things are damaged and how to repair them.”

Blood flow enables the immune system to function, and health is maintained by the coexistence of old and new cells. Kanazawa U35 aims to function as that “blood flow” and create a new circulation in the city. “Brewing Space 2025” is the first initiative launched by us, Kanazawa U35. We hope that this event will spark new encounters between Kanazawa’s younger generation and the local community, leading to further activities and projects. Rather than ending with the one-day event, we hope to cultivate the seeds of ongoing exchange and co-creation as a growing movement. About sponsors and support This event is seeking sponsors and supporters who will support connections across regions and generations. In addition to corporate sponsorship, we also welcome in-kind sponsorship of products and services. Sponsors will be invited to talk sessions and meetups, and will be featured on the venue and event page. If you are interested, please contact us using the inquiry form at the bottom of this page.
