Miki Imai’s first cover album, “fiesta,” released in 1988, will be digitally remastered and re-released on August 29, 2025. This album, originally released as the “MIKI IMAI SPECIAL ALBUM,” features Imai meticulously covering songs by her beloved Western artists, reflecting her own unique sensibilities. The album features AOR/soul hits from the 1970s and 1980s, such as The Carpenters’ “(They Long to Be) Close to You,” Michael Franks’ “The Lady Wants to Know,” and Minnie Riperton’s “Lovin’ You.” The urban, sophisticated arrangements and Miki Imai’s crystal clear vocals recreate the rich atmosphere of the time. “Hitori de X’mas” is an original song written specifically for this album, and is the first song that Imai herself has worked on composing, giving it a particularly warm presence on the album. Along with the fifth track, “Snow falling thick and slow” (Instrumental), this is the second song that Miki Imai has composed herself to date.
