The exhibition is currently being held at the Kanayama Minami Building Museum of Art (formerly the Nagoya Museum of Fine Arts, Boston) (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) until Tuesday, September 23, 2025 (national holiday). This is the world’s first immersive museum where yokai art painted during the Edo and Meiji periods, such as the “Night Parade of One Hundred Demons Picture Scroll,” comes to life. “Animation of Yokai Exhibition NAGOYA ~Imagination of Yokai~” is a project produced by Ikki Co., Ltd. (CEO: Takeaki Higashiyama). The number of visitors to the exhibition “Japan ~” (currently being held at the Kanayama Minami Building Museum of Art (formerly the Nagoya Museum of Fine Arts, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture) from July 19 (Sat) to September 23 (Tue, national holiday), 2025) exceeded 80,000, and a commemorative ceremony was held. (Organized by: Animated Yokai Exhibition Nagoya Executive Committee) The 80,000th visitor was a family from Kanie City, Aichi Prefecture, who received commemorative gifts including the Animated Yokai Exhibition official program (official catalog), a tote bag, and a yokai plush toy. Families shared feedback such as, “Learning that there are so many yokai broadened my interest,” and “My children enjoyed the realistic movements and images of the yokai.” “Yokai Come to Life Exhibition NAGOYA ~Imagination of Japan~” is the world’s first immersive digital art museum, where visitors can immerse themselves in Japan’s proud yokai art, such as “Yaparade Scrolls of One Hundred Demons,” “One Hundred Tales,” “Oni,” “Tengu,” “Kappa,” and “Tsukumogami” (fox spirits), depicted by various artists from the Edo and Meiji periods, using cutting-edge video technology and 3D sculpture. Japanese monsters, born from the rich imagination of ancient Japanese myths and legends, are beloved by people around the world across the ages.
