He founded the design studio “AXIS” in 1990. He has been active on a wide range of stages, focusing on graphic design and creating illustrations for national magazines. In 2005, he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and immediately hospitalized. He spent his days in anguish in a sterile room. While fighting the fear of impending death, he earnestly wished to live. His obsession with life miraculously led to his recovery, and he was released from the hospital six months later. He then began to paint, based on his own experiences, the preciousness of life, the importance of love and compassion, and the desire to live each day with a smile and joy. At the end of 2008, he held solo exhibitions of his oil pastel paintings in various locations. In August 2009, he appeared on Nippon Television’s “24-Hour TV: Love Saves the Earth” in the KRY Yamaguchi segment. In 2011, he suffered a cerebral infarction, but was released from the hospital thanks to treatment. He explores sadness, love, dreams, hope, and life through acrylic and oil pastels. He asks himself this question and paints “Humanity (Heart) Art” – “The World of Ichikawa Takeshi” – which is being held all over the country.
