He began playing the quena at age seven and made his debut at the age of 13 at the Cosquín Festival in Córdoba, South America’s largest folklore festival. He studied at the Manuel de Falla Municipal Conservatory in Buenos Aires, and for 10 years, from 1978, he toured and recorded in Argentina, the United States, Europe, and Asia with charango player Jaime Torres’ group. In 1986, he toured Japan. He began his career as a solo quena player in 1988, and that same year, he participated in a world tour (Vatican, Europe, the United States, and South America) performing “Missa Criolla” with Ariel Ramírez and José Carreras. In 1997, he gave a private concert for the Emperor and Empress of Japan during their visit to Argentina. In 1998, he performed “Misa Criolla” with Ariel Ramirez at Suntory Hall. Since then, he has visited Japan regularly, performing concerts throughout the country. He currently performs at the Buenos Aires show restaurant “CATULO TANGO” and holds lessons and workshops on Andean folk instruments. He also makes his own original quena. He released his first solo album, “Casabindo,” in 1995, “Quena de los Andes” in 2002, “Quena quena” in 2004, and “Poncho Colo Viento” in 2017.

Currently residing in Nasu-Shiobara City. He began playing the quena and other instruments in 1985. Since 1994, he has performed as a member of the arpa player Lucia Shiomitsu Trio, performing nationwide. From 1995 to 2016, he participated in concert tours in Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, and other countries. Since 2014, he has hosted the South American music festival “Onkonsai” at Shiobara Onsen every August, earning rave reviews. She has been teaching the quena at Nasushiobara Municipal Shiobara Elementary and Junior High School since 2021. Performance, Vocal Music, Kunitachi College of Music. Completed a research course at the Vocal Music Department of Toho Gakuen School of Music. Discovered the arpa in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she lived for two years from the age of 10. She studied under Chochin Balbuena there and Chucho de Mexico after returning to Japan. Not only as an arpa player and vocalist, but also as one of Japan’s rare “arpa singers,” she performs in over 100 performances annually, including the Tokyo Arpa Festival’s “Autumn Cadencia,” the Sendai Classical Festival, Terumi Niki’s “Reading and Music – A Small Room of Narration,” guest speakers at various universities, including her alma mater, Kunitachi College of Music, and elementary school appreciation classes. Her fourth album, “Tomorrow,” was released in 2021.
