The Chain Museum Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Masamichi Toyama, hereinafter referred to as “The Chain Museum”) The Fujiyoshida Museum has begun implementing a ticket sales system for its art communication platform, “ArtSticker,” at “FUJI TEXTILE WEEK 2025,” which will be held in the area around Shimoyoshida Honmachi Street in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi
Prefecture, from Saturday, November 22, 2025 to Sunday, December 14, 2025. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here Event overview FUJI TEXTILE WEEK is Japan’s only textile art festival that combines textiles and art. It began in 2021 with the aim of revitalizing traditional industries and the local community, rooted in the industrial history of Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, a textile production center with a history spanning over 1,000 years. The event highlights textiles and explores and discovers new possibilities for textiles through art and design. The event also aims to preserve the memory of the industry and shape the city’s identity by connecting various communities both in Japan and abroad as a starting point for manufacturing, and by revitalizing textile-related buildings. Through this event, we aim to revitalize Fujiyoshida, a textile town at the foot of Mount Fuji.

Like underground water, sounds, rhythms of the hands, memories, and the atmosphere of the land pulsate beneath the fabric. The exhibition aims to focus on what is invisible and what lies beneath, exploring the cultural background and deeper history of textiles beyond their superficial surface. As in 2023, the art exhibition will be directed by Nanjo Fumio and curated by Tanbara Kento. Message from Art Exhibition Director Fumio Nanjo I’ve heard that the textile industry developed in Fujiyoshida thanks to the clear underground water flowing from Mount Fuji. This water not only flows as visible rivers on the surface, but also includes invisible underground veins. The constant flow of water above and below ground is part of the magnificent cycle of the seasons and the workings of the earth. Imagine this, and my perspective suddenly broadens, as if I were looking down on Mount Fuji. This flow of water connects with the theme of this exhibition, “flowing,” and generates various associations. “Flowing” is also connected to the fluid nature of fabric. We live in an age of change. The world is rapidly changing, with shifts in values, technology, and common sense. To help us weather these times, let’s think about what flows through the weave. This fourth-ever exhibition was held in 2021, 2022, and 2023, but after a year of preparation in 2024, it will now be held in 2025. During this time, approximately 30 artists visited Fujiyoshida, enjoyed nature, walked the town, and interacted with textile professionals, resulting in a variety of project and production proposals. We are grateful that this process allowed us to engage with the people of Fujiyoshida and receive proposals related to the town. We hope that through this careful process, this year’s FUJI TEXTILE WEEK will gain new strength and gain the support of even more people. We’re also planning shops, workshops, and collaborative projects where you can enjoy textiles and art from various
perspectives. FUJI TEXTILE WEEK has previously hosted talk events featuring leading figures in various fields, introduced textiles produced in the textile-producing regions, and collaborated with a variety of textile-related industries, including fashion and architecture. This year, we are planning a number of
easy-to-participate workshops and collaborations with select shops and bookstores so that even those who are new to art or have no prior knowledge of textiles can enjoy FUJI TEXTILE WEEK along with the town of Fujiyoshida. 【YAMANASHI TEXTILE SHOP】 We will be opening a select shop offering a carefully curated selection of textile products made in Yamanashi Prefecture, allowing you to experience the charm of the diverse textiles featured in this exhibition and take them home with you. We will offer a selection of high-quality, stylish items, including bags, umbrellas, and towels. We also plan to carry merchandise related to the artists participating in the art
exhibition.

Through this cross-disciplinary collaboration, you will be able to discover new charms in the world of fabric, a material that is close to us in our daily lives yet rarely acknowledged. We will provide further details as they become available.
