The popular TV drama “Anpan,” currently airing 80 years after the end of World War II and 100 years since its first broadcast, is based on the story of Takashi Yanase and Nobu, the husband and wife who created “Anpanman.” The drama depicts the journey of these two ordinary people who overcame all sorts of obstacles to become “Anpanman,” the embodiment of “unreversible justice.” ◆Synopsis Nobu moves to Tokyo and works hard as a secretary to a member of parliament. Then, a major earthquake strikes western Japan. As she worries about the people of Kochi, Nobu realizes how much Taka means to her. Taka also decides to confess his feelings to Nobu, traveling to Tokyo and giving her a red handbag. The two finally become united. Married, Nobu and Taka begin a new life in a rundown tenement house. Nobu’s younger sisters, Ranko and Meiko, also move to Tokyo and become involved with Yagi and Kentaro. Even while working in the advertising department of the Mitsubishi Department Store, Taka never lost his passion for manga. Talented people like Ise Takuya, Mutsuhara Eisuke, and Teshima Osamu appear around Taka, and he becomes drawn into their creative activities, meeting the expectations of many. Takashi eventually turns to writing poetry and fairy tales, and Nobu continues to encourage him.
