With just three weeks to go until the event, the timetable for the two-day “Blue Note JAZZ FESTIVAL in JAPAN 2025” has been announced! Norah Jones and Ne-Yo will perform full sets, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in their unique worldview! Saturday, September 27th, kicks off with a performance by Valerie June, a musician who represents the Americana movement. This will be followed by Amaro Freitas, one of the most noteworthy pianists today, whose music transcends borders and thrills the world while cherishing his Brazilian roots. Don Was, the eccentric musician whose diverse activities include serving as president of Blue Note Records, will also perform with the Don Was & Pan Detroit Ensemble. This will be followed by Take 6 with the Miho Hazama Jazz Orchestra, the first-ever collaboration between 10-time Grammy Award-winning “Earth’s Greatest Vocal Group” Take 6 and the
world-renowned jazz composer and conductor Miho Hazama.
Singer-songwriter Norah Jones, who has won five Grammy Awards and sold over 53 million albums in total, will then leisurely conclude her rare first appearance at a Japanese festival with a full set. On Sunday, September 28th, SOIL&”PIMP”SESSIONS, which has performed in 31 countries and connects Japan with the world, will kick off the night with a special performance by the eccentric musician Ryosuke Nagaoka. The show will feature Incognito, the pinnacle of UK jazz funk and a leader in the acid jazz scene. Super entertainer Daichi Miura captivates audiences with his natural vocals and sense of rhythm, outstanding vocal ability, and world-class dancing. Tower of Power, “the most powerful funk band in the universe,” will perform, and Ne-Yo, a top R&B singer-songwriter/producer with three Grammy Awards and a total of 23 billion streams worldwide, will perform a full set in his only appearance in the Kanto region, bringing the two-day festival to a close.

The “Blue Note JAZZ FESTIVAL,” organized by Blue Note New York, began in 2011. Over the course of a month, it has become a staple of New York’s early summer, filled with jazz and a variety of music at multiple venues, including clubs and theaters. Starting in 2022, the festival will also be held in Napa Valley (California), with Robert Glasper as artist in residence and featuring Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, and others, and will evolve further in 2025, when it will be held at the Hollywood Bowl, featuring veteran artists such as Grace Jones and the Isley Brothers, as well as the currently popular Willow. The first festival in Japan was held in 2015, featuring Jeff Beck, Pat Metheny, Snarky Puppy, Hiatus Kaiyote, and others at the special outdoor stage at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. In 2016, Earth, Wind & Fire, George Benson, Andra Day, and others also performed. In 2024, the festival will be held at the new Ariake Arena, welcoming artists such as Nas, Parliament-Funkadelic feat. George Clinton, MISIA & Takuya Kuroda Band, Chicago, Marcus Miller, and Nile Rodgers & Chic, which has garnered a great response.
