Agbogbloshie is an impoverished area in Accra, the capital of Ghana, known for being one of the world’s largest electronic waste disposal sites. Large quantities of old computers, smartphones, televisions, and other electronic devices exported from developed countries are discarded here, and residents are engaged in the work of extracting precious metals such as copper and gold from these items. However, toxic fumes and chemicals are released into the air, and residents working without proper protective equipment are experiencing frequent health problems. The average life expectancy is estimated to be in their 30s, and more than 10,000 children are forced to live in harsh conditions, losing out on education as they work on waste disposal.

In 2017, he traveled to Agbokbloshie, an impoverished region in Ghana known as one of the world’s largest electronics graveyards. Since then, he has been creating artworks out of waste to improve human rights and environmental conservation in impoverished areas. With the funds generated from sales, he has built an art gallery, a recycling factory, and developed organic farming and EV businesses in the area. He advocates “sustainable capitalism,” a new capitalist system that virtuous cycles the economy, culture, and environment, and aims to create jobs for 10,000 Ghanaians by 2030. He continues to work tirelessly every day to transform impoverished areas into sustainable towns. He also founded MAGO MOTORS LTD in Ghana and is the representative artist of MAGO CREATION Co., Ltd. ■ISSEI comments I will be the creator and operator of “Agbogbloshie Stars,” but 50% of profits will go back into employment, education, and environmental improvement. Local creators will play a central role, and eventually stars and heroes will be born that the town can look up to. I aim for this cycle to inspire dreams and hope in Agbogbloshie. Until sales begin, I will personally cover all expenses. I will take responsibility for building a foundation together with the local community until it grows into a sustainable system. ISSEI is a notable creator who was selected as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Japan 2025 last month. This project is his first step toward changing the world, and there’s much interest in seeing how it develops. ■ISSEI Profile ISSEI is a leading Japanese YouTuber with over 65 million subscribers. His non-verbal expressiveness and creative ideas transcend language barriers, earning him over 100 million views per year in 39 countries. He captivates audiences around the world with his emotional
