Picture Book “Be Delicious” Introduction
https://prcdn.freetls.fastly.net/release_image/48095/2379/48095-2379-ae86a2d8307b5b4479caf979db972257-756×528.jpg “Be Delicious” is a food education picture book created with the cooperation of Otafuku Sauce Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nishi-ku, Hiroshima City; President and CEO: Takatomi Sasaki) that teaches children the joy and importance of communication through food. Momomi Sako, a picture book author based in Hiroshima, interviewed employees of Otafuku Sauce Co., Ltd. about topics such as food, child-rearing, children’s favorite picture books, and useful picture books, and decided on the theme and concept based on the interviews. This story, which follows the process of cooking and eating deliciously
illustrated ingredients in vibrant colors, is full of onomatopoeia and is perfect for reading aloud! By following the storyline, children can imitate the actions of cooking and imagine onomatopoeia such as “sizzle, sizzle” when grilling ingredients, making this picture book more interesting and enjoyable for them. “Oishiku Na Are” is now on sale at bookstores nationwide. It helps families who struggle with their children’s likes and dislikes, picky eaters, and picky eaters through its stories, enriching the mealtime experience. 【Comment from Teacher Sako Momomi】 In developing the concept for this picture book, our employees filled out numerous questionnaires and also provided us with adorable photos of their “delicious faces.” I was inspired by everyone, and with each exchange of words, we grew closer, and in the end, I felt like we all shared the same goal. As I continued to interview people, I began to see a strong overlap between the Otafuku Sauce team’s feelings about food and the image of parents preparing meals for their children. More than just nutrition, we want meals to be enjoyable. The simple words “It’s delicious” make everyone happy, both the person eating and the person preparing the food. Food is not “medicine.” We believe it plays a major role not only in the growth of the body, but also in the growth of the mind. Please enjoy this picture book at home while chanting the mantra, “May it be delicious!”

It was heartwarming to see the food the animals brought one after another, asking us to make it delicious, become even more delicious once it was cooked, and bring smiles to everyone’s faces. In scenes where the chefs cook with all their heart, hoping the food will be delicious, and the animals eat happily, there are plenty of delicious sounds like “sizzling,” “chunking,” and “crunching,” giving you a sense of satisfaction as if all your senses were stimulated. You can experience the joy of sharing feelings through food, such as the desire to eat delicious food and the desire to feed others. Kumazawa Bookstore Nishiarai Branch, Shio-sama A picture book that makes you feel the joy of eating. Insects and animals look so happy eating. Eating is fun! It’s delicious! Let’s chant the spell “May it be delicious” together! Yamamoto-san, Bunshindo Bookstore Viva Mall Honjo Branch I think that even if your child doesn’t like a certain food, they’ll probably eat it if you cook it right in front of them, saying, “I hope it’s delicious! I hope it’s delicious!” just like in the picture book. It’s especially effective for children aged 1 and up. This is a soothing picture book that lets you imagine parents and children sitting around the dinner table saying, “I hope it’s delicious! I hope it’s delicious!” Mr. Kato, Ropponmatsu Tsutaya Bookstore The text has a nice rhythm, the illustrations are cute, and the food looks delicious. It would be fun to read this book with your child, looking at the ingredients and imagining what dishes you can make. Mr. Yoshii, Miyawaki Bookstore Yume Mall Shimonoseki Branch The gentle
illustrations and soft colors make this a picture book that even adults will find comforting. Cute animals bring ingredients, asking the girl to make them delicious. Children who read this picture book will surely be inspired to make something themselves! I also liked how the difficulty of the cooking increases as you turn the pages, from simply baking and tearing leaves to making curry and apple tart. I can almost hear the cute “Here you go” of the children as they finish reading. Mr. Yamashita, Kumazawa Bookstore Chofu Branch I think “I hope it’s delicious” are magical words. Even something as simple as grilling something can become a feast for that person. Not only is this a fun cookbook for children, but I also think it helps parents lower the hurdle of thinking, “Cooking has to be a certain way.” Mr. Imai, Kumazawa Bookstore Niigata Kameda Branch A fun story with adorable illustrations. I couldn’t help but smile as I read it. Hot milk and toast are my favorite. I’m craving it now. Also, the way his nostrils widen as he inhales the aroma of curry while it’s being made is just too adorable!! TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Santo Moon Kakitagawa Store, Mr. M Fish, toast, and milk, a salad full of vegetables, curry, and finally, an apple tart made by everyone. What a delicious-looking picture book! When reading aloud, you’ll want to try saying things like, “I hope it’s delicious,” and “Here you go.” This is a perfect picture book for food education. Mr. Takami, Kinokuniya Bookstore Every Tsutaka Branch This was a really cute picture book. I love the parts where the animals bring the ingredients and ask, “Make it delicious!” And I wonder what kind of delicious dishes the ingredients will be transformed into?
